As the rains pass and the sun returns, Scotch broom will bloom all over the Pacific Northwest. It’s time to stop the spread! Two new cities joined up wth Broombusters: Coquitlam and Sooke. Coquitlam is the first Broombusting city on the mainland, and Sooke is ground zero for broom on Vancouver Island. Captain Walter Grant brought 3 broom seeds to Sooke in 1850 – and that is how it all started.
Groups and individuals all over BC are sharpening their loppers, reaching out to each other, and making plans for broom cutting and disposal. Since 2006, we have proven that cutting broom works. No one else is going to stop the broom but we can do it!
